Solo-Exhibition - Springfield, Missouri
Collected Memories and Rooted Objects
February 28 – April 1, 2022
Receptions: First Friday Art Walks: March 4 & April 1
In the Carolla Arts Exhibition Center, it was wonderful to get to respond to MSU’s new art gallery and install a solo exhibition featuring sculptures, drawings, and visual poems. This show is one of the three-part exhibition titled Collected Memories and Rooted Objects at Missouri State University. With this title and prompt in mind, I selected artworks from my studio ranging from 2008 whirlpool rug made of Walmart bathroom rugs to 2022 cast iron, styrofoam, and artificial turf sculptures.
Thank you MSU faculty, staff, grad students, and undergraduates for their help and support of this group of exhibitions. I look forward to returning to Missouri in April to meet with students for critiques.
Also, thanks to amazing opportunities in 2021 at @fountainheadarts and @sculpturetrails this exhibition include some of my new player piano roll visual poems and new cast iron sculptures. And, thank you to the Island Artificial Turf company for their support too as we collaborate to make sure remnants can become art.
In the Carolla Arts Exhibition Center, I am exhibiting a solo-exhibition featuring cast iron sculptures surrounded by drawings on wood and on player piano rolls.
In the Brick City Gallery, East, Kerry Phillips will create a site-specific sculptural installation utilizing locally sourced objects.
The third part of Collected Memories and Rooted Objects will feature a juried bodies of work from Haelim Allen, Ahmed Ozsever, and Jesse Ring. Juried by Leticia and Kerry, this group juried show will be on exhibit in the Brick City Gallery, West.
