Little Engines series, 2024
Inspired by the roller coaster bar graphs tracking interest and foreclosure rates, the game of Monopoly, and amusement parks that generate enough adrenaline one forgets how long the line was, this is the first of a new series of möbius strip roller coaster pieces. Instead of train cars, Monopoly hotels are taking a ride on a path that like an infinity sign and möbius strip has no beginning nor end and there is not a clear winner in this race.
Cape Cod Series, 2021-2024
In these cast iron sculptures, the idyllic Cape Cod houses become 12-hour wheel of domestic perfection, an endless column of repeated expectations, and excavations of the past footprints. In these forms, I explore the social ideas behind the expanse just beyond suburbia, where the American Dream intersects with reality. The tension between nature and societal innovation is at the core of this narrative, offering an irony inflected dystopian vision of the suburban fantasy.
Growing Turf Series, 2017-2024
In works such as Tighten Your Belt and Interest Only, the house shape whether cast in metal or cast in soap on a cast bronze soap dish, the house shapes are the focus of the action. In Tighten Your Belt, the home cinches at the waist and yielding gathers and folds. Surrounded and adorned with the perfect yards, the whimsy of the carved foam sits poised as if a ziggurat in the landscape.
